About Dr. Hamvay

Dr. Hamvay’s Educational Background:

After high school, Dr. Hamvay attended Orange Coast College, where he spent a number of years pursuing education in a wide variety of fields, including: Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, and Behavioral Sciences. Despite the interest in these fields, his true passion was rooted in the understanding of anatomy and physiology, in which he honored in several times.

Following a terrific “rollover” accident in his early 20’s, and yet another inspiring visit to a chiropractor, he realized that interest was now his calling.

He earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College of Los Angeles in 2006, where he broadened his studies from the required curriculum to learn advanced techniques, such as, Sacro-Occipital Technique, Thompson Drop, Gonstead, Flexion-Distraction, Graston, Webster, Upper Cervical, and Active Release. He was then certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Dr. Hamvay’s Early Career:

Dr. Hamvay began his career in Los Angeles working in a high volume personal injury clinic before pursuing an independent career with Heller Chiropractic. Not long after, it became apparent that the hectic Los Angeles environment was not a healthy one. He and his future wife began to look into other opportunities across the US and internationally until finally deciding on an opportunity in the wonderful city of Columbia, SC. He spent the next 6 years as the clinical director of 2 separate clinics including one that received the high honor of being Best in Franchise in 2012 out of 350+ HealthSource clinics throughout the nation.

The Start of Motion Chiropractic:

Although he loved everything about his life in South Carolina, he felt that caring for patients is a privilege and a patient’s acceptance of care needs to be built with more personal attention. When the opportunity to purchase Motion Chiropractic was presented to him, he and his wife reveled at the idea of moving to Austin, TX and owning a practice where he could own an independently run, wellness-based clinic that offers him and his patient’s more focused time and care.

Dr. Hamvay became the owner of Motion Chiropractic in July of 2016, with his primary specialty utilizing the TTAPS technique and is focused on chronic and degenerative disorders, including patients with previous spinal surgeries and fusions.

A little bit about Steven:

He lives here with his beautiful wife Marisa, his weird little dogs Stella and Ziggy, and his “slightly” lazy cat Mittens. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, continuing the complete renovation of his home, or working on his newest project (and 2nd love of his life), a 1992 convertible Mustang GT. He and Marisa are also avid football fans and will always be out rooting on their favorite teams: Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills, South Carolina Gamecocks, and of course, the UT Longhorns!!!!
